The overall objective of the project is the exemplary implementation of a digitally supported travel process with improved security and greater passenger-friendliness in the air transport system. This is characterised by further growth in passenger numbers and, at the same time, very limited possibilities for the spatial expansion of the system infrastructure. The demand of the Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe (ACARE) in Flightpath 2050 that in the future 90% of all travellers in Europe can travel from door to door within four hours is to be supported with this implementation.
In line with advancing digitalisation worldwide, the digital support of pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight passenger processes in the project is intended to enable reliable, safe and passenger-friendly processes in the future, each of which is geared even more closely to the needs of passengers. For new, flexible and customer-oriented value creation processes, a digital process key (i.e. a token, the so-called PaxToken) accompanies the passenger throughout his or her entire journey. This PaxToken is firmly linked to the passenger's identity and allows them to electronically prove their identity and authenticate themselves securely at any time. This enables passenger-friendly self-service and automated processes that use the security and service functionalities of the PaxToken, depending on the level of security required.
